Stopped here for a quick bite while on a walking route in the city. The cafe was easily accessible and the interior tastefully polished. However, the tables were arranged uncomfortably close to others and made for a cramped space.
The cafe had a tempting assortment of cakes and pastries on display. The prices, however, were less tempting (perhaps not surprisingly).
Would recommend as a stop if one is tired but there are better places for dessert.

â â â â â I have been a customer for almost 20 years now and have always loved the delicious strudels and cakes, aswell as I was (and still am) delighted by the kind staff of the CafĂ© Sluka at Rathausplatz. But my recent visit was just disappointing - the quality of the dishes have changed tremendously, the strudel looks and tastes different and now seems merely exchangeable, so the Schinkenrolle with an appalling dressing from the bottle, and the sandwiches suddenly taste boring. It seems to be a place that wishes to attract only tourists now, rather than the former president of austria that used to be a frequent guest, amongst other politicians. I can only hope that all this unpleasant change is reversed once the Corona crisis diminishes, and as the frequent clients that are now in homeoffice, come back. Otherwise I am very sorry to say, you have lost a devoted fan.

â â â â â Rich taste that satisfy you, I highly recommend the almond cake with chocolate cream, it was soft, sweet and absolutely delicious. The portion size is a little small, but I think it is a good value to price deal.
The staff was nice and helpful.

â â â â â CafĂ© Conditorei Sluka at Rathausplatz 8 is the original Sluka location and is still the top place for Viennese pastry making! It is also because of the Rathausplatz 8 branch that I rate Sluka that high.
Sluka won the 1898 Vienna Culinary Arts Competition and has been synonymous with high quality ever since. Maybe the interior is not the most alluring, but everything is about the cakes here. They are absolutely fabulous, every piece of them we ever tried.
