Worst place I’ve stayed at. If you’re under 25 don’t stay here - no fun allowed

The owner of the chalet, an Austrian man in his 70's, lives in the chalet (we weren't told this prior) and came into the dining room during every evening meal, picking on guests and even shouting at a few of them. He made one guest cry, threatened to literally kick out four other guests, and generally created a tense and unpleasant atmosphere. It was totally bizarre, and out of control (the chalet hosts would just exit the room and shut themselves in the kitchen during these fights). For most of the week, the chalet was massively understaffed. Three of the five evening meals of the week were cooked and served by a single staff member. As there were 18 guests, dinner was typically 40 minutes late or so. Because of this lack of staff, food was also uniformly poor. Towards the end of the week, the 12 litre silver foil wine packets that contained the dinner wine were just left out on the tables. Similarly, the rooms were meant to be cleaned twice during the week but were not cleaned even once. Understaffing also meant some facilities, such as the sauna, were left locked up some days. The dining room is too small for 18 people. It would comfortably fit 8 or 10 people maximum. Boot room equally small (again, should be for half the number of guests). The rooms, however, are comfortable and the bathrooms are fine. Location wise, it's a good fifteen minute walk up a fairly steep hill from the lifts and town centre. Taxis will cost you €20 each way (not cheap!) Request not to take a room on the top floor. The top floor corridor automatic light doesn't work (and there is no light switch). This means you have to either crawl along the corridor and down the top flight of stairs, or risk falling or injuring yourself. Our chalet hosts said that the top floor corridor light hadn't worked since the beginning of the season (so six weeks and counting). Alpine Elements hadn't even acknowledged my complaints email two weeks after I had sent it, let alone sent any sort of response or apology. St Anton itself, however, is an excellent resort. The ski infrastructure, services and Apres are all amazing. So I'd recommend St Anton the resort, but definitely not Alpine Elements or Chalet St Martin.
