We came here as we were in Maria-Theresien Plaza and looking for an Austrian restaurant nearby. After entering we waited to get seated and it didn't take too long. The interior was nicely decorated with chandeliers and dark red ceilings. There were desserts sitting in the glass counter so you could watch it as you pass. They also had free WiFi which is always a bonus, just keep an eye out for the frames with the WiFi code. The menu had lots of options and we received an English one. They had a special set which included a soup, a schnitzel and a dessert. I tried their dumplings with egg, which turned out to be spaetzle with egg. I personally found the food on the salty side. The set meal was quite nice and did have choices. We had the sacher torte for dessert and found it a bit dry (as it's supposed to be). It is a really nice looking place. Food was ok but too salty.

Nice and quiet Cafe near Vienna center and off course you can order something sweet. Some of them are traditional Viennesisch. Give it a try.

Traditional Viennese grand cafe opposite the People's Theatre. Nice place to grab a coffee. Raimund was a popular playwrite. He was bitten by a dog in 1836 and falsely believed he was rabid so shot himself. He died soon after rabies free.

Good coffee, delicious cake. Not sure about the service quality. Could be nicer.

Decent place. Good strudel with vanilla sauce. One of the waiter had a hard time understanding English. Odd thing: waiter just dropped the dishes on the table, rather than placing them, but nothing spilled.

Those who enjoy genuine Viennese coffeehouse culture will delight in this place: the quiet murmur of the voices, no music (!), high ceilings and comfy booths - it provides the soothing soundscape of a friendly library. If you catch one of the (many) spots at the window, you will be able to watch Viennese life going its course. The whole setting is highly relaxing. We came for breakfast. The selection is not groundbreaking, but rather traditional and solid: don't expect smoothies or porridge; do dare to try the Fiaker Frühstück made of a Gulasch (beef stew) and a beer. Our bread rolls ("Semmeln"; don't offend the locals by using the Germans' term "Brötchen"!) were deliciously fresh, the egg properly soft boiled, my Cafe Latte spoiled me with its fine, long-lasting milk froth. Only the orange juice was no revelation - tasted thin ad watered-down. Free Wi-Fi, too. I would happily spend an afternoon here, working on the laptop. And the waiter - grumpy-looking as they come, but then giving you a subtle smile that suddenly makes your day.
