Ab dem frühen siebzehnten Jahrhundert war die Burg unbewohnt und verfiel zusehends und wurde mangels Pflege zur Ruine von der unter anderem heute lediglich einer der mehrgeschossigen Türme bis in eine Höhe von rund 18 Metern erhalten ist. Die Burg Flaschberg ist die Schwester-Burg der Burg Hohenburg welche sich ebenfalls im Gemeindegebiet von Oberdrauburg befindet und die aufgrund der umfangreichen Sanierungs- und Instandsetzungsarbeiten der noch vorhandenen Teile der ehemaligen Burganlage und der vorgenommenen Ein- An- und Zubauten an der Ruine ein echtes Highlight darstellt und dem Besucher einen wunderbaren Ausblick tief hinab ins Tal der Drau gewährt, während Flaschberg weiter zusehens verfällt.
