The interior decoration is very nice, so if you feel the waiting time is a little long, take a look around.
Good place took seek shelter when it's snowing.
I recommend if you want a taste of some local goodness, however please be aware of the waiting time for the food being around 30-40min on a busy day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We’ve been visiting Oberndorf and the Bassgeiger Alm for the past 25 years. The previous owners, Hans, Hörst and the previous tenants Anni and Sepp, called us Stammgäste. The locals of Oberndorf warned us about the new tenant, Hans-Peter being a bit of a nutcase but we gave him a chance and for two years things went mostly smooth.
The past week, we had lunch ever day at the Bassgeiger Alm. Today however, we had the most unpleasant experience with Hans-Peter. As we payed our bill, my brother-in-law tried to fit the amount on the bill with 10 cents, Hans-Peter thought this was his tip and very rudely told us “Wir sind hier in Österreich, hier geben sie Trinkgeld.”
We were very taken aback by his behavior since we had tipped him every day before (at least 10%) and were planning on tipping him again with the coins from our change and some more (like we do every day).
Needless to say, this ruined our day and the many beautiful moments we had at the Bassgeiger Alm. Things just aren’t the same anymore and we probably won’t be going back there until there’s a new tenant.
