★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you take the street up the mountain you will get a voucher for consumption when you pay the Maut.. the restaurant is the final end of the street. It is nice to walk up until the top of the mountain, spend some time in the mountain garden, enjoy the view and after the hike ( yes it is more than a small walk) you take something at the nice terrace.. the food is nothing exceptional but due to the endorphins in your blood everything leaves back a happy feeling

It probably doesn’t rise to the level of a true destination restaurant, but if you are going to be going up the mountain anyway, you don’t have to worry about going up during mealtimes and not being able to get something to eat. The views are good and the kids will like the relaxed atmosphere and unchallenging comfort food. As I’ve noted elsewhere, like the rest of Austria, it can be challenging to find a vegetarian option and the only vegan option is a glass of water.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed at Haus Tauernblick in Jochberg which is a homely and friendly B and B. Also ate across the road at a handy Burger, Rib and Steak house called the Dorf Stubn in Jochberg. Run by friendly Brunhilda and Tawarra. Good food at a good price.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yes, its touristy. But view is amazing. We had very good service and the food is very reasonable for the price paid. Large portions and yes ‘fast food’ like.
You can get here with the cable lift for €27,50 per person or in Summer by car for €20 (limited parking)
