Jahrhundert als „Laboratorium“ bzw. "Salpeterturm" zur Pulverherstellung genutzt. 1898 ging der Turm durch Kauf aus dem ärarischen Eigentum der k.k. Monarchie in städtisches Eigentum über. Lange Zeit war er von einer sozialistischen Jugendvereinigung genutzt. Viele Jahre nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg bewohnte als Mieter die Salzburger Antiquitätenfamilie Werner den Turm. 2003 wurde das alte Gemäuer von einem Halleiner Kinderarzt erworben und umgebaut. The Barbaraturm is a medieval defense tower. An adjacent tower, now completely in ruins, was used as a powder tower after 1733 and 1744 and in the 19th century as a "laboratory" or "saltpeter tower" for powder production. In 1898 the tower was bought from the Aryan property of the k.k. Monarchy in urban ownership. For a long time it was used by a socialist youth association. Many years after the Second World War, the Werner family of antiques from Salzburg rented the tower. In 2003 the old walls were acquired by a pediatrician in Hallein and rebuilt.
