Ich verneige mich vor der Person Pfarrer Otto Neururer, den die Nazis im Konzentrationslager Buchenwald zu Tode gefoltert haben ... aber den aktuellen Film zu diesem Thema halte ich für ein dilletantisches Machwerk: Schwaches Drehbuch, ebenso schwache Regie und Inszenierung, welche konstruierte Zusammenhänge und Abläufe verkrampft mit der Jetztzeit herzustellen versucht. Im Ergebnis völlig unglaubwürdig. Da vermögen auch bemühte, mitunter prominente Schauspieler nichts mehr zum Besseren zu wenden. Die authentischsten Szenen liefert noch der Folterknecht, streckenweise auch der durchaus talentierte Darsteller des Otto Neururer.Der Rest erscheint als verlogen-heuchlerischer und realitätsferner Schwachsinn. Es ist mir ein Rätsel, wie ein derartiger Film angeblich zahlreiche Preise einheimsen konnte.

The most authentic scenes still provides the torturer, in places also the quite talented actor of Otto Neururer. The rest appears as hypocritical-hypocritical and reality-far nonsense. It is a mystery to me how such a film could allegedly receive numerous awards.
