★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jack is not the best of teachers. My partner and I paid for a full day of private lesson with him but came out less confident in our skills than before the lesson. He lacks empathy as a teacher and could not really understand WHY we could not do the things he instructed us to do. Showing us that he can do it over and over again was demotivating and added to the frustration that we could not do it. We joked at the end of the day, watching YouTube vid would’ve had the same impact but free. In addition, his instructions were not too coherent leaving us a bit confused. There’s no doubt he is a good skier and loves the mountains but not the best material for teaching. Maybe our learning-teaching styles were just not compatible?
At lunch, we were put in an awkward situation of paying for his lunch, which we do not mind, but there was no ‘thank you’ and made us feel like we were meant to pay for him. A little thing I guess, but it did leave us rather peeved by the end of the day.
