J	Jul on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Der Weg zur Eisriesenwelt ist fantastisch. Die Aussicht ist wirklich atemberaubend. Man kann entweder mit der Seilbahn nach oben fahren oder man entscheidet sich zu laufen. Der Weg ist teilweise sehr steil und ausgesetzt. Auch wenn man mit der Seilbahn fahren möchte, muss man zuerst circa 20 Minuten laufen. Deswegen sollte man auch hier körperlich fit sein. The path to the giant ice world is fantastic. The view is really breathtaking. You can either go up by cable car or you decide to run. The path is sometimes very steep and exposed. Even if you want to go by cable car, you have to walk first about 20 minutes. That's why you should be physically fit here too.

This ice cave is the largest in the world: it is 42 kilometers long, 407 meters deep, and the volume of ice build-ups on its walls and arches exceeds 30 thousand cubic meters. The numerous passages and labyrinths in the Hochkogel mountain were formed under the influence of the Salzach River, which eroded limestone rocks for several millennia. And the ice walls of the cave are the result of snow melting in the Alps: the melted snow masses descended from the mountains and accumulated in the cave, gradually turning into ice.

Unser Sohn (7 J.) war total begeistert über das Gletschereis zu gehen... Dicke Jacke, Schal, Mütze, Handschuhe und gescheite Schuhe... past! Very impressive! It's 3,500 steps up and definitely worth the 1,400 in the mountain !!! Our son (7 yrs) was absolutely thrilled to walk over the glacier ice ... thick jacket, scarf, hat, gloves and smart shoes ... past!
