Doch 1995 musste sich die Familie Haider vor eine Entscheidung stellen und durch eine Fernsehausstrahlung vom ORF über eine Familie die Grappa kultiviert hatte entstand die Idee den Kornbrand weiter zu veredeln. So entstand die erste Whisky Destillerie Österreichs. The first whiskey distillery Austria actually started from a farm. But in 1995 the Haider family had to make a decision and a TV broadcast by ORF about a family that had cultivated grappa gave rise to the idea of further refining the grain brandy. This is how Austria's first whiskey distillery came into being.

Haben uns entschlossen auch eine Führung mit Verkostung zu machen, welche sich absolut auszahlt, interessante Dinge erfährt über Herstellung des Whiskys und die Geschichte des Familienbetriebes selbst! Desweiteren eins sehr freundliches Personal! Einen Shop und eine Stube zum trinken wie einen Außenbereich für gemütliches beisammen sitzen gibt es obendrein! Absolut top und sehr zum weiterempfehlen!!!?? A very nice whiskey distillery that my girlfriend and I recently visited and that I can highly recommend to every whiskey lover! We decided to do a guided tour with tasting, which absolutely pays off, learns interesting things about the production of the whiskey and the history of the family business itself! Furthermore, one very friendly staff! On top of that, there is a shop and a room for drinking as well as an outdoor area for cozy sitting together! Absolutely top and very recommendable !!! ??

This or something similar must have been the thoughts of Mr. Haider - back in 1995 - when he considered the future of his small farm. That's when he decided to produce his own Whisky, a first in Austria. More than 25 years later, the result of his work is remarkable. It's not just the product itself (the whisky is excellent). Visitors are walked through the entire production process by a charming guide (Kathy) and offered a few tastings at the end. Of course, there is also opportunity to buy some of the good stuff before you leave. A small cafe and a playground for kids is part of the facilities.

Everyone we met was very attentive and friendly, and Jasmin was a wealth of knowledge and experience. My only regret is that I can only fit so much in my luggage! We will be back again in the future.
