Kleines, feines Museum mit sehr freundlichen Mitarbeitern

Interessierte mich mal das anzusehen wie die Tramway ausgesehen haben ,war ja echt super

Leider war der offizielle Termin abgesagt aber schöne alte Trams zu bestaunen

Man darf sich nicht allzu viel erwarten. Aber das was man sieht ist toll. Sehr freundliches Personal das jedem hilft der fragt. Hat und toll Spaß gemacht.

In the 19th century, the city of Graz experienced strong growth. In 1874-76, the new South Station (the present-day main station) was rebuilt. However, it was just outside the city center and was connected to the center by the newly built Annenstraße. In 1878 the new horse tramway was built to the south station and the network was continuously enlarged. In 1899, this network was switched to electrical operation and successively expanded until about 1910 and connected the neighboring towns with the city of Graz. The today's terminals Eggenberg, Andritz and Wetzelsdorf were outside Graz and were incorporated in 1937. During World War II, the bus line Griesplatz - Straßgang was converted to O-Bus and the O-Busgarage in Kärntner Straße, today's bus garage, was built. The line O1 ran from the Elisabethinergasse to Straßgang, on the way there was a loop at the Kapellenwirt for the amplifier line O2. In 1952, a second O-bus line Liebenau - Thondorf / Dörfla was built. It was also the expansion of the line after Straßgang planned to the central station, but it was not implemented. 1967 is the last time an O-bus in Graz wrong. The Tramway Museum Graz has a historic location with the coach house at the terminus of line 1 in Mariatrost. From 1898 the first electric tram in Graz, the "Red Electric", operates from there. There you can visit historical vehicles today. Changing exhibitions also inform about the history of the tram in Graz. The museum also houses a large 1:87 scale model railway. An extensive archive with original documents, photos and other artifacts can be found at the association headquarters in Steyrergasse.

Must see for Tramway enthusiasts and those interested in the history of public transport in Graz. Several operational historic tramways and carriages. On opening days usually there is at least one historic tramways in operation across the network.
