 Great route by bike from Mayrhofen or alternatively first by car and then on foot.

Nice reservoir with a road for hiking (unfortunately no hiking trail without cars).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely walk to the other side where you can climb and play on the rocks at the end of a big stream or just sit down in the grass. Beautiful scenery and perfect for classic mountain photography or selfies ;).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautfiul place for a longer or a shorter walk. Entrance by car is 8 euro. There is a lot of space in the parking lot. Narrow road so you need to pull over for other cars to go by you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The area around the lake is really beautiful, with waterfalls and mountain scenery. It is much more accessible that the other water reservoirs Zillergrund and Schlegeis.
The drive up is very much a mountain road where you have to use the yield for oncoming traffic. The road is also full of bike riders.
Unlike the other dams there it is not a huge wall with a view the tickles your gear of heights.
There is a nice overview of how the reservoirs and power plants are all connected by underground pipes.
Toll is €8, but parking is free.
There is a restaurant (and hotel) right by the lake and another one up the mountains a good 30-40 min walk away.
