A	Arnold Lengauer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bereits seit dem 11. Jhd. gibt es in Ardagger eine Stiftskirche. Die ursprünglich romanische Basilika wurde im 14. Jhd. im Stil der Gotik umgebaut und im 17. Jhd. erhielt die Basilika eine barocke Ausstattung. Besonders bemerkenswert ist das 1234 entstandene Margaretenfenster, welches in 15 Medaillons Szenen aus dem Leben der hl. Margareta zeigt. Nicht versäumen sollte man einen Blick in die Krypta und in den mittelalterlichen Kreuzgang. Beides ist aus dem linken Seitenschiff zu erreichen. Parkplätze stehen gegenüber der Kirche zur Verfügung. Beautiful location on Kollmitzberg, dedicated to St. Odile (from Alsace), unique in Austria! Beautiful cemetery surrounds the former fortified church. Definitely worth seeing!

Margaretha geweihte Kirche ließ Stephan von Slaet zwischen 1341 und 1350 errichten. Ein Vorgängerbau befand sich im Gebiet des „Alten Marktes“. Einen weiteren mittelalterlichen Sakralbau stellte die 1889 abgebrochene, der hl. Barbara geweihte gotische Kapelle im Schloss dar, von der zwei Säulen 1890 beim Bau der Maria-Lourdes-Kapelle (Alleegasse) verwendet wurden. Die ursprünglich herrschaftliche Pfarre Wolkersdorf, deren Pfarrsprengel bis zur Eingliederung der Filialkirche von Riedenthal 1971 auf das Ortsgebiet beschränkt war, gelangte im 15. Jahrhundert an den Landesfürsten (Habsburger). Die Kirche weist heute 2 Stilepochen auf: das gotische Presbyterium und das 1727 unter Kaiser Karl VI. erbaute barocke Schiff. Von 1727 stammen auch die 6 Statuen auf der Kirchenstiege. 1754 wurde der Kirchturm mit finanzieller Unterstützung durch Maria Theresia fertig gestellt.
