★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's so peaceful, a peat bottomed lake ( that's why it looks black from above) with beautiful woods surrounding it. Peat bottom means it warms up quickly in the spring making it a pleasure to swim in. The local lido is here with diving boards and slides. Much nicer than a beach to be able to swim in fresh water and relax on green grass with cool tree shade.
Excellent cafe at the lido and at a couple of lakeside hotels. Lots of wildlife, an exercise trail and art exhibitions. Well worth a visit after you're all shopped out in Kitzbuhel!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful lake surrounded by a natural bog and forests. The lake is surrounded by a walkable path. The smaller path is 2.5km long, the long path is around 9km long.
Inside the forest, the path offers a few sportive workouts, such as balancing or climbing, on ready to use tools.
One side of the lake is forest and wood trail, the other side is the public bathing place for the local people and has a coffee place, a restaurant and public restrooms. The Schwarzsee also has its own ÖBB train station.
