★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The SchokoMuseum in Vienna's 23rd district Liesing, run by Confiserie Heindl since 2001, shows 3000 years of chocolate history, from the Xocolatl of the Olmecs to today's praline. It also explains the cultivation, the different varieties and recipes of chocolate and allows a look into the ongoing production.
The museum takes the form of a classic museum with exhibits and pictures, as well as the opportunity to taste different raw chocolates and then take a look at the ongoing production. All processing steps from the cocoa bean to the finished chocolate base are explained: cultivation, harvesting, fermentation, drying, storage, cleaning, roasting, crushing, grinding, fine rolling and conching.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Videos share the production process when the workers are not there. The museum is small and there is a lot to read. Didn't feel like it was worth the money. Short visit for us.
Required to wear mask.
Nice bathrooms. Parking available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow!!! We toured the factory with chocolate tasting and making some chocolates as well. Learn about history of the company since inception. Met wonderful staff and the lady at the reception who helped us with English version of the tour and explained how it work. A tip if you are walking around the factory tasting chocolates take a glass of water next to reception as you enter as that will help. There is a factory shop where you get 10% discount on the day of your visit to the museum ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most delicious chocolate you can imagine. I don't really like dark chocolate but the one they served here was absolutely extraordinary, and don't get me started on the milk and white chocolates, and the fillings. In the factory/museum ticket all you can eat chocolate is included, and you will have a 10% off from the chocolate gift store, where the prices are already lower than in any other store.
