★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What's not to love about this schloss. The manager (Annette) is a fantastic host and the staff can not do enough to make sure your stay is amazing.
The castle is situated about a 30 minute lakeside stroll from the skiing village of Zelle am see.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Simply beautiful. Great rooms. Maybe, the Michelin star restaurant onsite is really great. Also, I didn't partake, but you can rent a Porsche onsite....the hotel is owned by the Porsche family who have a major connection to Zell am See.

Mayer's restaurant is well known for its creative use of spices, but even the Schlossgaststaette is worth staying for if you like traditional alpine dishes

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is 3*s not based on the quality of the location and the uniqueness of the setting and building, this is 3*s because this isn’t really a hotel experience in the same way as you would expect of a hotel.
The room we had was lovely, with high quality furnishings, comfortable bedding and a very homely feel. It’s clearly a hotel catering for weddings or large parties, we happened to be the only couple in the entire hotel for our second night and with no overnight staff it all felt a little eerie and not what you would expect from a hotel. It would have been nice to have known this situation during booking as it may have changed our expectations.
Breakfast was offered but it was declined as the cost was €18pp for a limited menu. The restaurant next door is Michelin Star quality, but expensive and we also declined this option considering there was so much more to explore in Zell am See itself with regards to eateries.
Service was, when present, warm and friendly but we didn’t receive maid service during our two night stay and that seemed an omission with no reasoning.

It was a completely lovely venue - beautiful gardens, wonderful terrace, very cool light-filled, dining room with a high ceiling and nice architecture, good set-up for dancing and a couple projection screens. The staff was really terrific and could not have been nicer. Thank you so much for a fantastic wedding weekend!
