★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die Burgruine Sarmingstein ist die Ruine einer Felsenburg welche auf einer Felskuppe ca 200 Meter oberhalb der Donau in Sarmingstein, Gemeinde St. Nikola an der Donau errichtet wurde.
Die Burg wurde vermutlich im 13 Jahrhundert erbaut und hat eine bewegte Vergangenheit.
Der Hauptausbau der Wehranlage erfolgte im 15. Jahrhundert. Ab dem Jahre 1480 war die Burg durch mehre Zerstörungen stark beeinträchtigt und wurde dann in der Folge intensiv befestigt.
Während des dreißig Jährigen Krieges wurde die Anlage durch die Schweden 1645 oder 1648 zerstört und blieb fortan eine Ruine.
Auch wenn heute lediglich nur noch spärliche Reste von Gebäuden und Mauern vorhanden sind, so ist eine Besichtigung dieser einstigen "Veste" allemal eine Besichtigung wert. Allein schon der großartige Ausblick auf das Donautal ist faszinierend.
 The ruins Sarmingstein is the ruin of a rock castle which was built on a rocky outcrop 200 meters above the Danube in Sarmingstein, municipality of St. Nikola on the Danube.
The castle was probably built in the 13th century and has a colorful past.
The main construction of the fortification took place in the 15th century. From 1480, the castle was severely damaged by several destructions and was then intensively fortified.
During the Thirty Years' War, the plant was destroyed by the Swedes in 1645 or 1648 and henceforth remained a ruin.
Even if only sparse remains of buildings and walls are present today, a visit to this former "Veste" is always worth a visit. Alone the great view of the Danube valley is fascinating.
