★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Auf einem mächtigen, steil zur Thaya abfallenden Felsen thronte einst die kleine Burg Buchenstein. Heute ist vom einstigen Bergfried lediglich ein kleiner Mauerzahn erhalten geblieben. Wer sich die Mühe macht und auch eine wenig Klettergeschick mitbringt, kann die im steilen und schroff abfallenden Gelände befindlichen Umfassungsmauern bzw. deren Fundamente begutachten.
Über die Entstehung bzw. Erbauung der Burg gibt es keinen gesicherten Nachweis, jedoch soll die Burg gegen Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts zerstört worden sein.
Vom Burgareal genießt man einen wunderbaren Ausblick auf Liebnitz, das Thayatal und die reizvolle Landschaft.
 The small Buchenstein Castle once sat enthroned on a mighty rock that fell steeply to the Thaya. Today only a small tooth of the wall has survived from the former keep. Anyone who takes the effort and has a little climbing skills can examine the surrounding walls and their foundations in the steep and sloping terrain.
There is no reliable evidence of the origin or construction of the castle, but the castle is said to have been destroyed towards the end of the 15th century.
From the castle area you can enjoy a wonderful view of Liebnitz, the Thayatal and the charming landscape.
