★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wunderschöne kleine Kirche idyllisch gelegen im oberen Teil von Götzis Meschach. Bereits im Jahr 1463 lässt sich eine kleine Kirche in Meschach nachweisen. Sie stand auf dem Parkplatz gegenüber dem Friedhof. 1865/66 wurde das Gotteshaus gründlich renoviert und erweitert. In den Jahren 1881 - 1883 wurde die heutige Kirche auf Betreiben des aus Meschach stammenden Pfarrers und Dekan Johann Georg Bell nach Plänen des Architekten Karl Holzhammer durch Baumeister Fidel Kröner aus Levis im neugotischen Stil erbaut. 1976/77 und 1994 wurden Renovierungen der Kirche St. Wolfgang durchgeführt. In der Weihnachtszeit kann die "Meschacher Krippe" des Bildschnitzers Erasmus Kern aus dem Jahre 1624 in der Kirche bewundert werden.(Quelle: goetzis.at)
Beautiful little church idyllically situated in the upper part of Götzis Meschach. A small church in Meschach can be traced back to 1463. She was standing in the parking lot opposite the cemetery. The church was thoroughly renovated and expanded in 1865/66. In the years 1881 - 1883 the present church was built in Neo-Gothic style by architect Fidel Kröner from Levis at the instigation of the pastor and dean Johann Georg Bell from Meschach and the plans of the architect Karl Holzhammer. 1976/77 and 1994 renovations of the St. Wolfgang church were carried out. During Christmas time, the "Meschacher Nativity scene" by the carver Erasmus Kern from 1624 can be admired in the church. (Source: goetzis.at)
