Pension Trojerhof

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Woche über Silvester im Trojerhof. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und nett eingerichtet. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und das Abendessen sehr gut. Die Lage der Pension ist perfekt! Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt, da die Atmosphäre locker und das Personal und die Chefin sehr freundlich sind. Über Silvester haben sich alle sehr viel Mühe gegeben uns einen tollen Abend zu bereiten.

Good place to stay whilst in Heligenblut??

Very well located, 5 minute stroll from ski lift, and with a beautiful view of the Grossglockner...apartment is fine, you have everything you need (though don’t expect daily cleaning or standard hotel toiletries, only a bar of soap). Apart from that... I didn’t feel welcome here at all, especially one evening (Feb 14) when two female friends of the owner were having a drink at the bar as I walked in for dinner, and they started clearly talking about me with contempt, and asking her questions about my family, all the time while directly staring at me and my three year old daughter. I don’t know what I did to deserve all this staring and snickering but...it certainly didn’t feel great. The WiFi is extremely weak and unreliable- don’t expect to be able to get any work done that requires more than 2mb bandwidth. Lastly, there is a sign by the breakfast buffet warning people that it’s forbidden to take anything with you from breakfast, and if you do brazenly pack a sandwich, it will be added to your bill (with three exclamation marks for emphasis...). I understand it can be frustrating to have people making twenty sandwiches at breakfast but does it really happen so often that such an unwelcoming, unfriendly sign is required to scare everyone off? I doubt it. This place, overall, could use a lot more kindness, warmth and generosity in addition to the already abundant politeness and efficiency.

The best thing is the view of Heiligenblut church and Grossglockner far behind it, from the front of the hotel. Some rooms offer this view. The staff is pleasant and helpful, everything clean and tidy and the offer for breakfast is great, tasty. One can choose between a vegetarian and meat-based dish for dinner (dinner time is quite early, from 7-8pm, a downside because of my personal habits). There are spacious rooms for skis and ski-boots. The valley station of the ski-lift is in the centre of the village, just 5-10' walk away. One of the best options regarding cost-benefit ratio. Highly recommendable.

Upon arrival the staff in charge was helpful. The horror came during breakfast. The lady 'in charge', was acting odd towards me. Somewhat racist as I have seen her serve a german couple nicely while towards me, quite harsh. I asked for a lukewarm water and she gave a boiling hot water! How am I supposed to drink that??? The breakfast is lacking some greens, where are the cucumbers, or tomatoes? There were only a few fruits! My son packed 3 Semmel for our hike. And she has the temerity to charge me €6,00 more for packing 3 Semmel??? Like what??? Like, where am I??? And then this girl became so unfriendly, and said that packing some snacks is like STEALING? Well, you earned it lady, I will report this to the consumer protection and see if what they are doing is legal! WIFI is soooo SLOW! Yes, as already written, this place needs some MORE KINDNESS!!! But be warned, the lady in charge is quite a RACIST!
