Railway station in southern Lower Austria. Regional trains from Vienna end here, but trains to Styria towards Mürzzuschlag also stop here. There is also a special train on Sundays. The station has three platforms, but not all of them are used regularly. Design quite old-fashioned, but elevators and other important objects are present. Short way to the bus stop. An old cabin of the Rax cable car is in front of the station. Ideal as a transfer point if you want to get on the bus to the valley station of the Rax cable car. If you were to make the station more contemporary, it would be a lot better, because the underpass, in particular, is painted white unimaginatively.

Small train station and starting point for regional trains to Vienna and beyond. Nice start to hikes in the Rax region on weekends. There are usually enough parking spaces available. Tickets can be bought at the machine.

Jakubovi. A to najlepšie nakoniec: túto idylu rámuje železnica Semmeringbahn, pričom na západe dedinu ohraničuje najdlhší zo všetkých viaduktov - tzv. Schwarza-Viadukt. Uvidíte odtiaľto aj historickú vlakovú stanicu s priľahlým múzejným parkom. Ďalší dobrý dôvod, aby ste tu vystúpili a pozreli si ich bližšie.
Where the valley of the river Schwarzy reveals its most beautiful charms, there lies the village of Payerbach. When viewed from one of the northern hills, it acts as a postcard picture or as a cut-out from a model railway. The river Schwarz, which winds peacefully in these places, is lined on both banks by beautiful villas built in the style of the so-called Summer freshness. On the south bank, like the green oasis, lies the Payerbach Park with a beautiful garden pavilion. Behind him, above the municipal office and the whole village, proudly rises the Gothic parish church dedicated to St. James. And best of all: this idyll is framed by the Semmeringbahn railway, with the longest of all viaducts bordering the village to the west - the so-called Black Viaduct. From here you can also see the historic train station with the adjacent museum park. Another good reason to come out here and take a closer look. The historic station is also a destination and also a starting point for many tourists who come here daily to take trips on maintained hiking trails and admire the beauty of the local nature. One of them, the Semmeringbahn hiking trail, leads from here to the Semmering station and provides the most beautiful views of the Semmeringbahn - a World Heritage Site that celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2004. It was here, on the Payerbach - Eichberg section, which has 25 per mille and is therefore the steepest part of the railway, in 1851 the well-known locomotive races were held in order to find out whether resp. which locomotive will cross this section.
