The ambiance is basically something you can find anywhere, the food is mediocre at best, people randomly come up and take your food (and you have to pay again), and by far the most unforgivable, they made me pay 3,80 Euros for water. Rudest Austrians you'll find, would definite not recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today the hut was extremely useful as it provided a warm shelter after a long walk in wind. Staff was nice. If you visit go to the Keiserstein just behind the hut. There is a beautiful view from there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good selection of drinks...especially fruit juices and fine draft beer. You can also eat there but we did not taste anything. Despite this all served food looked very tasty. Chalet is very nice with wood design and great mointain view. From Schneeberg bahn final station it takes around 1 hour walking to get there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Schneeberg is the go-to mountain for the Viennese. With over 2000 meters it has spectacular views of the alps and the lowlands. The Fischerhütte is a great place to warm up and take a break.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overcrowded on sunny weekends. If you don´t like crowds, simply avoid sunny weekend visits. Otherwise, the hut is well-managed and the manager is friendly. Dining is reasonably priced given the location. The quality of the food is well above average for a mountain hut. There is a winter room for emergencies or a short break during a ski tour (backcountry skiing). It is complete with a heater that can be run if you have a handful of 1 Euro coins in your pocket. A couple of years ago, they still had some provisions in the Winter room and payment was based on an honor system. Some visitors took food and/or drinks without paying for it, so the tradition might have been cancelled. Such a pity. When people do that, they kill a little bit of the culture.

Gorgeous sunrise views! Comfortable rooms, views included. Home made cooking, delicious and fresh.
I would highly recommend a long weekend here, and I will definitely be back.
