★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To mark its 40th Anniversary, and to thank the City of Vienna and Republic of Austria for providing a stable, welcoming environment since its inception in 1976, OFID commissioned Iraqi artist Suhail Al-Hindawi to create a unique monument.
After many months of careful planning and organizing, on June 2, 2016, the monument was unveiled by OFID Director-General Suleiman J Al-Herbish and Dr Andreas Mailath-Pokorny, Municipal Councillor for Culture, Science and Sports of the City of Vienna. The monument was presented on the sidelines of the Ministerial Council, in the presence of Ministerial Council members, OFID Governors and Alternate Governors, ambassadors and representatives from the Austrian Foreign Ministry. The monument is located in a small public park in front of the Vienna International Center on Wagramerstrasse, Vienna.
