★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die Kirche heißt offiziell Alte Pfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt. Der weitläufige Name "Maaskirche" bezieht sich auf den einstigen Fließer Pfarrer Alois Simon Maas, der hier Seelsorger, Beichtvater und auch als Arzt tätig war und hier begraben liegt.
Erste urkundliche Erwähnung erfolgte im Jahr 1220. Allerdings wurden Spuren aus der bajuwarischen Besiedlung um 530-620n. Chr. in den 90er Jahren entdeckt, sie sind in der Unterkirche sichtbar.
Nach vielen Bauveränderungen, Wiederaufbau nach zwei Bränden, und letzter grundlegender Restaurierung in den Jahren 1991-93 erstrahlt diese spätgotische Kirche jetzt in schönstem Gewand.
The church is officially called Old Parish Church of the Assumption. The sprawling name "Maaskirche" refers to the former Fliess pastor Alois Simon Maas, who worked here pastor, confessor and also as a doctor and is buried here.
First documentary mention took place in the year 1220. However, traces from the Bavarian settlement were around 530-620n. Discovered in the 90s, they are visible in the lower church.
After many construction changes, reconstruction after two fires, and last fundamental restoration in the years 1991-93, this late Gothic church now shines in the most beautiful garb.
