★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die Kunigunden Kirche ist die ehemalige Pfarrkirche mit erhaltenem Turm und Karner im ehemaligen sogenannten Altort von Dürnstein beim Kremser Tor. Sie wurde um 1200 erbaut und war der Hl. Kunigunde - der Gattin Kaiser Heinrich II – geweiht.
1783 wurde die Kirche abgerissen und der frei gewordene Platz wird seither als Friedhof genutzt.
The Kunigunden Church is the former parish church with preserved tower and karner in the former so-called Altort von Dürnstein at the Kremser Tor. It was built around 1200 and was dedicated to St. Kunigunde - the wife of Emperor Heinrich II.
In 1783 the church was torn down and the vacated space has been used as a cemetery ever since.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Seek this one out. The church is ruined, there are some walls remaining. Very beautiful churchyard, with many local family graves decorated with flowers and plants, Amazing crypt which is literally stacked 12 feet high with skulls and bones (not for the squeamish).
