A 80 kms à l'ouest de Vienne, le long du Danube, elle est située au fond de la vallée de la Wachau ( réputée pour son vin blanc ), ajoutée au patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco.
Derrière son entrée du type médiévale son centre historique nous réserve de belles surprises : façades, églises, monuments, enseignes très subjectives, fresques, etc...
