★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not very efficient. No smart tollbooth, each car has to come to full stop to pay the due. One line open for prepaid video on austrian side, only. Payment with credit cards takes ages. Entire tollsystem is based on technology of last Millennium. Expect significant delays of four hours and more during holiday season.

There are usually better routes around the place and the traffic jam can be avoided, but the police has a habit of closing off-ramps for non locals. At least porta potties are along the way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shameful spot. We have lost all day in a jam due to Slovenian organization incompetence, and they have guts to charge it. There was an unbelievable jam ,full of parents with kids, and Slovenians didn't care, or did anything. When I said the woman in the exit that they should not charge this, she answered very unpolitely I entered Slovenia from Croatia in 13:30, and exited karawanke in 23:30 . I guess that was enough of Slovenia for a lifetime.

Horrible tunnel. Please avoid if possible. Take some nice route to enjoin scenery which is for free instead of standing in a 3 hour queue, arrogant staff laughing in your face.
