 Very interesting and large local museum. With very interesting changing exhibitions and access to the old Capuchin church.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sehenswertes Museum mit lokalen und weltumspannenden Exponaten. Die einzelnen Ausstellungsschwerpunkte sind mit viel Wissen um die Materien und sehr anschaulich präsentiert (keine Überfrachtung, gut erklärt). Ein beeindruckendes Geländemodelle zeigt die nähere Umgebung von Gmunden und fossile Funde ergänzen es perfekt.
Die WC - Ausstellung kann man nicht übersehen. Tolle Keramik, so auch eine Kollektion an Nachttöpfen, WC mit Fußpedal und Dusche (exquisit für Herbert v. Karajan angefertigt) und vieles mehr. Sehenswert.
Well worth seeing museum with local and global exhibits. The individual exhibition focuses are presented with a great deal of knowledge about the subject matter and are presented very clearly (no overloading, well explained). An impressive terrain model shows the immediate vicinity of Gmunden and fossil finds complement it perfectly.
The toilet exhibition can not be overlooked. Great ceramics, including a collection of chamber pots, toilet with foot pedal and shower (exquisitely made for Herbert v. Karajan) and much more. Worth seeing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Museum, lots of stuff to look at was tricked into a visit by displaying "the most expensive paintings in the World" banner on the building but then of course it were only copies of it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A terrific little Museum, who's exhibits detail Town history, some history of salt mining and geology, but most importantly, it's fabulous display of ceramics, which has more commodes, chamber pots, and beautifully decorated toilets then the mind can take in! I giggled my way through the entire exhibit, helped by the silly posters that adorned the walls. I felt like this was the hidden jewel in the otherwise gorgeous little town of Gmunden.
Not fully wheelchair accessible, but most parts of the museum are accessible, and they have a wonderful wheelchair-accessible bathroom.
