Das um 1820 vom französischen Architekten Charles de Moreau für einen Arzt errichtet Palais gelangte 1870 in den Besitz von Graf Sternberg. Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg ging das Palais an eine Schweizer Versicherung in jüdischem Besitz. Nach deren Enteignung 1938 wurde es Mussolini geschenkt. Seit damals befindet sich das Palais in italienischem Staatsbesitz und beherbergt das italienische Kulturinstitut. Die meisten Veranstaltungen finden im großen Saal statt, der ein späterer Zubau ist und durchaus als hässlich bezeichnet werden kann. Die Räume im Palais sind allerdings absolut sehenswert und wenn sich die Gelegenheit zu einer Besichtigung bietet, dann sollte man diese unbedingt nutzen! Per una volta, avevo deciso di iscrivermi alla conferenza del 18 ottobre, utilizzando l´apposito indirizzo e-mail indicato nell´"invito". Ho tentato per ben due volte, a scanso di equivoci, di inviare un messaggio (una precisazione, non ho outlook), purtroppo, la casella di posta elettronica è piena e non accetta messaggi ... Ho provato a chiamare, l´istituto, nella più pura tradizione italiana, è chiuso (per lo meno al pubblico) il venerdì pomeriggio (mi sembra perfettamente normale che il fine settimana inizi mezza giornata prima in un servizio al pubblico italiano).
