★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exceptional food with world class views of the Danube river valley. The food in Austria can be fantastic and ocaionally it can be transporative, the latter applies. We have been twice, the first time five years ago and it has been exemplary both times.
We had starters of soup and salmon both served with homemade rolls and pumpkin cream. Provincial but executed with high craft.
For the mains I had the deer; which is the best I have had. Superlative, young and tender served with corn crouquettes, think corn fritters alla Austria.
The wine list is locale and exceptional the Austrian's wines continue to explode with world class confidence.
Just an exceptionally wonderful food experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spent a few days there for a seminar. Breakfast is incredibly rich in options, so is the lunch table, though generally lacking vegetarian dishes. But the service is super courteous, and helpful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I booked a room with a balcony however when we arrived there was no free room with a balcony. We got a normal room for the price of the room with a balcony. We could have moved into a room with a balcony for the last night. We stayed at the hotel for four days. The saunas were not turned on for two days due to the warm weather. If I choose a hotel with a sauna then I would like to use the sauna there. Of course, we didn't get any discounts. This is not that hotel where we will return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful food, very friendly staff and the most incredible views from the balcony or winter garden! Worth a visit just to see the incredible terrace and sit under the chestnut trees; the atmosphere is truly special and although its almost 80km from home it is a place I'll take all my English guests from now on! Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Thank you hotel Schachner.
