The Greeks who settled in this place, near the Fleischmarkt, already had a church, which was rebuilt in the Byzantine style between 1856 and 1858 according to the plans of Theophil Hansen. The church belonging to the Patriarchate of Constantinople has been a cathedral since 1963 and is the seat of the Metropolitan of Vienna.

This is special. See for yourself. They don't ask but a donation tray is available so provide some change, it's worth a visit.
