★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gmunden Ceramics is a very traditional Austrian brand. We have been collecting pieces over the years. We were so lucky to be introduced to this place - they sell factory seconds which turned out to be a real bargain!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The tour is nice and amusing.
It starts of with a small introductory video, then you revisit each step of the production with additional facts and anecdotes along the way. You can take a small piece of the original clay with you and two people can try to recreate the famous "Flamme" pattern of gmundner ceramics.
Before that the guide shows you how a piece of gmundner ceramic is painted. This is also the weak point of the whole tour as it can be really hard to see what is going on - especially if there are many people.
Would be great if they would hang a TV on the ceiling with a camera pointing straight down so you could see in more detail what the guide is doing.
The shop is strangely spartanic, I guess it's to put the focus on the pottery itself but the shelves just look cheap. As far as I'm aware this is not your usual "industrial selling" - meaning that the pottery costs the same here as in any other shop.
