★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Waren am Heimweg vom Wilden Berg Mautern auf der Suche nach einem bodenständigen Gasthaus, dieses hatte gute Bewertungen und offen, daher ins Navi eingeben und angesteuert.
Angekommen waren wir verunsichert, sehr kleines Gebäude und Öffnung nicht erkennbar, vorsichtig hinein und nachgefragt
Das erwürdige Gemäuer ist schön und zeitgäß renoviert, angenehme Atmosphäre. Das Gasthaus wird aufgrund der Lage hauptsächlich von Ortsansässigen frequentiert, fühlten uns aber nicht fremd.
Wir hatten Schnitzel, Backhendlsalat und eine Wildplatte bestellt, gerade letztere haben wir in der Art auf noch keiner Speisekarte gesehen.
Schnitzel war etwas zäh, kann mal vorkommen, dafür das Backhendl wirklich gewaltig gut abgeschmeckt und reichhaltig, die Wildplatte abwechslungsreich und ein neues Geschmackserlebnis.
Preis war für das Gebotene angemessen, gute und ehrliche Küche, hat unsere Erwartungen erfüllt. Wären gerne noch ein wenig geblieben, wenn wir nicht 2h Heimreise vor uns gehabt hätten.
Kommen gerne wieder, wenn wir in der Gegend sind.
On the way home from Wilder Berg Mautern we were looking for a down-to-earth inn, it had good reviews and was open, so enter it into the navigation system and head for it.
When we arrived we were insecure, very small building and opening not recognizable, we went in carefully and asked
The worthy walls are beautiful and contemporary renovated, pleasant atmosphere. The inn is mainly frequented by locals due to its location, but didn't feel strange to us.
We had ordered schnitzel, fried chicken salad and a game platter, we have never seen the latter on any menu.
Schnitzel was a bit tough, it can happen, but the fried chicken was really tasty and rich, the game platter varied and a new taste experience.
Price was reasonable for what was on offer, good and honest cuisine, met our expectations. Would have liked to have stayed a little longer if we hadn't had a 2-hour journey home before us.
Happy to come back when in the area.

The food was typical Austrian, but nicely cooked. We had a lovely lunch
