Positive: Probably the friendliest accommodation we have stayed at. Beautiful old Tyrolean Gasthof is perched on the mountainside overlooking Mayrhofen and the Zillertal, with wonderful views. It is good value for money, especially the half-board supplement. Breakfast is included, and has a good fresh selection in Austrian style. Evening meals were fantastic Austrian fayre, and very filling. It is run by a lovely older couple, and is at the heart of the local village community. Evening meals are served in the restaurant/bar. Virtually every evening locals come in to give the place a great atmosphere. Hosts really could not do enough for us, they were really friendly, and treated us as part of the family. The hosts don’t speak English; the waitress spoke reasonable English, but with some limited German we got by, and the language barrier did not take away from the welcome or stop us from being included. Berghof is set on its own, a little back from the quiet mountain road, with parking outside. In winter a free ski bus, goes from just outside the Gasthof, reached by a short, steep access path or alternatively via driveway and along the road a little. Busses run about every 20-30 min during the day, with a gap at lunchtime; they run direct both up to the new Moslbahn or down to the Horbergbahn ski lifts. The Horbergbahn also serves as a connection for busses to the rest of the Zillertal, including Mayrhofen town. Lifts provide a quieter way to access the ski-slopes than the main Penkenbahn in Mayrhofen itself, with no queues at all Moslbahn. The rooms are spacious; furnishings and decor are old-fashioned but comfy and clean. Bathroom modern, and the room had a nice big flat-screen TV. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Infrared sauna also included. We did get snowed in for 24 hours with the road closed! But snowfalls were extreme. In general access with winter tyres is fine even in falling snow, though carrying snow-chains is probably a good idea.. Negative: Downsides, be aware of the location of the Gasthof – it’s rural setting will not suit those wanting lots of ‘après’ as you’ll need a taxi up if you miss the last bus from the Horbergbahn at 17:20. And unfortunately, the Berghof has a pervading smell of smoke in the corridors and common areas, whilst this does not enter the bedrooms, and it is unpleasant; but sadly all too common in Austria. The restaurant is smoke-free – but some smoke does drift through..

Positive: Extra friendly staff, very comfy room and bed. Ski-boot dryer is definetely a bonus!!! Amazing view! Good central location in Zillertal valley.. Negative: The location is little bit too high up in the valley and driving could be tricky if it snows. I´d love to have some fresh vegetables at breakfast..

Positive: Simple place at the top of the mountain, around 4km from the valley.... Nice views, nice restaurant, simple rooms and modern bathrooms. Breakfast is simple and fine. Food in the evenings sometimes nice sometimes simple.. Negative: slightly inconvenient to go skiing but there are some ski buses in the front that you can use. breakfast is fine but simple dinner sometimes nice, sometimes too basic.
