As part of our Sounds of the music tour, we visited this site. It is a beautiful cemetery, they keep the place real nice. We had a long day, so we sat and enjoyed the peace and the ground.

This cemetery looks more like a garden. There are also a must see catacombs (+ 2.00 EUR). Amazing place.

There are cemeteries that are like gardens, and this is one, although small. The atmosphere, the colours and the two old churches make it a special place. The tombs are ancient. Worth a visit, including the nearby small catacombs.

It seems odd to rate a cemetery, but this is I think the most beautiful burial ground I have seen. The graves are beautifully maintained and the flowers are beyond compare. It is small, and in the centre of the old town so we'll worth calling in to see the beauty of this resting place which is sheltered by the cliff of the fortress, and looked after with love and serious dedication.

The cemetery next to St Peter's Abbey. Quite a tranquil place to pay respects to the dead and to read the tombstones. There is a catacomb that you can visit too for a slight payment, but it's quite empty and not the same as the St Stephen in Vienna. There are more tourists here than the St Sebastian Cemetery opposite the river but it's still quite an interesting place to visit as the Sound of Music was filmed here too.

This is St. Peter's cemetery, the oldest cemetery still in use in Austria. St. Peter's wasn't actually used in the Sound of Music as some reviewers have said. The cemetery was re-created in a Hollywood studio and altered for the movie. All the scenes involving the Von Trapp family hiding in the crypt were done in on set. It's definitely worth visiting if in Salzburg though as it captures the feel of the film. The graves are all well kept with beautiful flowers and a great many has statues, which makes it a very interesting place to come and see. A very unique and beautiful place. Many notable Austrians are buried here, including Maria Anna Mozart, the elder sister of Wolfgang Mozart.

A beautiful crypt and cemetery that has a mix of history and serenity. A beautiful place to walk through.

A very pretty little cemetery. It also much cost a fair price or birthright to be laid to rest here. I did note they do accept new "customers" as a recent addition had their photo and fresh flowers on display in one of the cages. I probably should have watched the "sound of music" before going, because I swear a scene was in this area. Its a very pleasant walk, and they really keep the graves pretty with flowers. There is the option of going into the crypts for a fee, or with the Salzburg card, we opted out of this.
