Interesting fossil site with an informative small museum and eye-catching observation tower. Outside there are plenty of information boards and activities for children, from the playground to the huge sandy bay where they can dig for fossils.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A few years ago, the world‘s largest fossil oyster reef with 15,000 giant oysters was uncovered on the site of the fossil world. The theme park, opened in 2009. Scientists reconstructed what it looked like 17 million years ago.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice place to visit with young kids, playground, icecream, fossil "dig" and a short walk on the nature. The tower is closed because of corona, but still super exciting for kids.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty cool! The tour takes about an hour and you learn a lot about the creation of Earth and specially about this particular Austrian region. You get to watch some movies as well as a pretty good multimedia show at the end. They also have an app now where you can use cardboard to see some stuff. Of course, the regular tour is kind of boring for (small) kids.
But: they have an area where kids (and parents) can dog for fossils themselves: pearls, shark teeth and bones can be found. I'd consider the family-price for half an hour digging with 15 euros moderate. Also, they have a pretty good playground.
