★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die kleine Barockkirche steht auf einem Hügel unweit der Stadt Völkermarkt seit bereits über 240 Jahren und wurde laut Stiftungsurkunde am 10. Oktober 1780 von frommen Völkermarkter Bürgern als Kapelle des heiligen Kreuzes gestiftet und erbaut.
Nachdem Franz Saltzer mit ihrem Bau begonnen hatte, vollendete dieses Werk der angesehene Bürger Mathias Valentin Pacher. Im Jahre 1779 vollendete Valentin Pacher den Bau der heutigen Kalvarienbergkapelle und ließ noch die 14 Kreuzwegstationen errichten.
Heute wird die Kirche überwiegend als Begräbniskirche genutzt, nebenan befindet sich die städtische Aufbauendstes Aufbahrungshalle.
The small baroque church stands on a hill not far from the town of Völkermarkt for over 240 years and was founded and built on the 10th of October 1780 by religious Völkermarkter citizens as a chapel of the Holy Cross.
After Franz Saltzer had begun with its construction, this work completed the respected citizen Mathias Valentin Pacher. In 1779 Valentin Pacher completed the construction of today's Calvary Chapel and still had the 14 Stations of the Cross built.
Today, the church is mainly used as a funeral church, next door is the city's most extensive Aufbahrungshalle.
