Tidy, affordable, and only a 10 minute bus ride to the old town. And the included breakfast is excellent.

While in Bavaria, I specifically requested to stay in places that vibe Bavaria. this place lived up to expectations. First off, it's in an old farm house that the owners have converted. It's very cozy, and still remains highly authentic. This adds to a lot of its charm. The second thing that makes this place so great is the location. You wouldn't know it's only a 7-10 minute drive (or 15 minute bus ride) to downtown Salzburg...it feels like it's in the middle of farm country (which it is). There's lush meadows, farm tractors, and of course mountains all around you in this quiet stay. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The staff doesn't speak much English, but it doesn't matter...the message gets across clearly because they are very patient and friendly. Breakfast is included in your stay, and has the usual Austrian/German fixing (breads, cereals, etc). One fantastic feature is that the bus stop for a bus that goes to/from downtown Salzburg is right in front of the lodging. We used this the entire time, keeping our car parked at the lodging. You can take bus #22 in and out of downtown in about 15 minutes each way. From the main stop in downtown you can go anywhere on the amazing bus system the city runs. I recommend the SVV app (Salzburg Verher) if you want a really easy way to learn and use the bus system! This place made our time in Salzburg so enjoyable. We got to enjoy the peaceful Austrian country side at night and in the morning, then easily commute to Salzburg for exploring. The staff was incredible, and I found the price we paid to be highly reasonable for such a clean, comfortable, and unique stay. Tip #1: Check in to Haus Ballwein can be confusing. Once you find 69a, park the car and walk to the *actual house* 69a. There is no "front office," just a house. You'll probably see some ducks in the grass (real ones!) If you see them, you're heading to the right house. Just ring the door bell at the door around back and someone will help you. Tip #1b: There's two lodgings here...Haus Ballwein and Pension Ballwein. They are different places with different owners.

My favorite stay. Staff speaks very little English, as a note, but this was no issue as their hospitality was INCREDIBLE. I felt so welcome here and the room was very nice.

We had a great time there very quite and the staff was very helpfull. The bussstop is right outside of the hotel and it takes you to the center. Nice breakfast and very clean rooms. We recommend it.

Have stayed at Haus Ballwein multiple times. The rooms are immaculate. The breakfast substantial. The ability to walk out the front door and hop on a city bus to the city center is a very convenient feature. The place I book when I am in Salzburg and the place I recommend to friends.
