★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the highest ski resorts (1850m) only approx. 90 minutes from Vienna. Even with poor weather, the upper areas tend to be ok. In the lower laying areas snow cannons ensure slopes are covered with snow. Various chairlifts, t-bars and also an area for beginners (took a group of 5 beginners). Good slopes, even some black ones, so if you need to quench your "ski thirst" for a weekend this is fine. Numerous slope-side or lift-side restaurant options with typical dishes, although at around mid-mountain, you will also find a self service restaurant with a much greater variety of dishes. Their website is quite helpful. If you want a ski teacher for beginners I suggest you ask at one of the 4 ski schools for someone young and patient. We had booked an "old school" teacher, who chastized one of the kids for not being able to stop or turn (if he know how to, he would probably not need ski lessons).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The perfect place for families with small kids starting to learn skiing. Moderate prices (even in the restaurant), friendly personnel, and nice views. It is not connected in any ways to the bigger slopes of Stuhleck or Hirschenkogel - that's why it is not crowded in the weekends.

All good for kids and beginner to learn ski or snowboard.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect place for beginners, blue paths even from the top, red paths are also available. Typically recommended for families. There are several large parking available. Local ski schools giving training everyday, 1on1 also possible, you can rent your complete gears necessary. Stuhleck is one hour drive from Vienna but you also can take a train.
