★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited Der Tortenmacher last year and it had lovely and unique flavoured chocolates. This year, I went to the cafe again in February only to be greeted by a large and tall man who shoved us the menu and immediately wanted me and my partner to order on the spot.
Even when I wanted to take a look at the cakes first, the server wanted us to order straight away as if we were not going to order anything and just sit at the cafe which is quite ridiculous considering we had travelled 9,947 km from the other side of the world to visit Salzburg.
After ordering a tea, the man came back with the wrong order and argued with me saying the tea I wanted was the right one when it wasn't. I persisted and he went to check it out with the other staff. Shortly he came back apologising for his mistake.
The entire cafe was filled with villagers who thought I did not understand German and they did say some nasty things about me even though I was a foreigner being put on the spot for trying to enjoy my short stay at what I thought was a lovely cafe.
The next time I am in Salzburg, there is no way my partner and I will patronise such a racist and xenophobic establishment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great cake shop, one of the three best I know in Salzburg. (Expect delays in being served especially at Sundays when it is too full. Expect not much more than coffee, tea and cakes, i.e. few savoury items on the menu).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Its a great friendly place to have Austrian breakfast or cup of coffee with a piece of cake in the afternoon. Variety of Cakes is diverse. Very much City Cafe with a lot of Traffic on the street.
