★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Since 1685 Viennese one can drink coffee at this address, the Rotensturmstrasse 14. Once, it was the Armenien spy Johannes Diodato (or Owanes Astouatzatur in Armenien), who opened Vienna's first coffee house here.
They still serve excellent coffee here today (see the lever machine). I like the interior's quite cosy 1980's design and the patrons that go along. One can even have a quick café al banco, though - as usual in Vienna - for the same price as when sitting down.
Since the renovation of the Rotenturmstrasse the place has even a nice terrace.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great coffee! The staff was nice. They have a lever coffee machine! So it's worth a visit just for that alone ? beware though, people are allowed to smoke inside which is a pity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cute little cafe in the center of Vienna. The decor is elegant and the cafe seems to be very popular. Thus, it might be hard to find a table.
The staff took a very long time to attend our table, even though the cafe was not overly crowded.
The cafe is a smoking cafe, which I didn’t mind but this might be a no-go for you.
The coffee itself was very good. Prices were fair on a high Niveau, which I assume is normal for Vienna.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went there for breakfast and only to found out it is one of the oldest cafe in Vienna. We had 2 eggs, 2 OJ, 1 croissant. 1 bagel with cream cheese and tomato and 2 coffees and it came out to be 27€. Both the service and the coffee were great.
