★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great destination with plenty to do. As a group we did the ice cave tour and ventured up to the next station in the cable car. Sadly it was poor visibility.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am sure this is a fabulous place for skiers but it’s not the best for snowboards. There are few runs at the top of the mountain but those were closed when we visited. The main draw, I think, is the 11km long run, which is very narrow and sometimes has counter slopes (not great for snowboards).
Unless you are a very fit rider or prefer freeride then this is not the slope for you. We saw probably 5 snowboarders there that day, which confirms our opinion.
They do have a ski and snowboard rental if you need.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dachstein mountain is the second-highest mountain in the Northern Limestone Alps. It is situated at the border of Upper Austria and Styria, and is the highest point in each of those states. It’s best for hiking as well as for skiing during the season. The journey of Chairlift is the most interesting and enjoyable but a little scary when it pass through the poles. In the surrounding mountains you see the snow in summer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great mountain, we visited the Dachstein Krippenstein in the winter period during covid, so it was not busy at all. We picked a great day with lots of sun. We hiked to thw five finger panoramic point. Without real snow boots it will take 45 minutes to get there. Better to rent some snow boots in the downhill station. The cable ride takes approximate 20 minutes to get you to thw top. Stunning views from the top!!
