★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thürndl ist die Ruine einer Höhenburg auf einem Bergkamm, der sich oberhalb von Hallein erstreckt.
Als Teil der mittelalterlichen Stadtbefestigung von Hallein reicht die Geschichte der Ruine Thürndl bis ins 13. Jahrhundert zurück.
Von der einstigen Befestigungsanlage sind heute nur noch 15 Meter hohe Mauerreste des ehemals viergeschossigen Turmes erhalten. Bis in das 16. Jahrhundert war der Turm sogar noch von einem Wildhüter bewohnt.
Von 2003 bis 2008 wurden an den Gebäuderesten Restaurierungs- und Instandsetzungsarbeiten durchgeführt sodass man die Ruine heute gefahrlos besuchen kann. Die kurze Wanderung durch den Wald hinauf zur Ruine und die herrliche Aussicht lohnen sich allemal.

As part of the medieval city fortifications of Hallein, the history of the Thürndl ruins dates back to the 13th century.
From the former fortifications, only 15 meters high wall remains of the former four-story tower are preserved. The tower was even inhabited by a gamekeeper until the 16th century.
From 2003 to 2008, restoration and repair work was carried out on the remains of the building so that the ruins can now be visited safely. The short hike through the forest to the ruin and the wonderful view are definitely worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Der Weg ist gut beschildert und kann von jung bis alt begangen werden. Wanderschuhe erhöhen die Trittsicherheit. Habe den Weg von Hallein Richtung Barmsteine gewählt. Verläuft nachdem man die Hauptstraße überquert hat, großteils im Wald. Einfach nur schön.
The path is well signposted and can be committed from young to old. Hiking shoes increase surefootedness. I have chosen the way from Hallein direction Barmsteine. Runs after crossing the main road, mostly in the forest. Just beautiful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ruine nahe Hallein. Sie liegt am Weg von der Stadt zu den beiden Barmsteinen. Rund um die Uhr kann man sie kostenlos betreten. Vor Ort sieht man nur noch die Mauern, im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Ruinen ist hier nicht mehr viel übrig. Die Aussicht wird leider an den meisten Stellen bedeckt. Sitzmöglichkeiten sind vorhanden. Wenn man gerade am Weg ist, ist es empfehlenswert, kurz die Ruine zu besichtigen, ein eigener Ausflug wegen ihr lohnt sich aber nicht.
Ruin near Hallein. It is on the way from the city to the two Barmstones. They can be entered free of charge around the clock. On site you can only see the walls, unlike many other ruins, there isn't much left here. Unfortunately, the view is covered in most places. Seating is available. If you are on your way, it is advisable to briefly visit the ruin, but it is not worth taking a trip to see it.
