★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Versteckt tief in den Wäldern der Rannaschlucht, auf einem steilen Felsen erbaut, befindet sich die imposante Burgruine. Direkt von der Donau führt ein beschilderter und markierter rund 2 km langer Waldweg, stetig ansteigend zur Ruine.
Bereits 1140 wird diese Burg erwähnt. Im Mittelalter war sie der bedeutendste Adelssitz des oberen Mühlviertels. Von hier aus wurde im 13. Jahrhundert die Rodung und Besiedlung des Gebietes bis zum Böhmerwald vorangetrieben.
Die heute noch vorhandenen Mauerreste lassen erahnen wie groß und mächtig die Burg vor Jahrhunderten war. Derzeit werden umfangreiche Sanierungs- und Instandsetzungsarbeiten an der Anlage durchgeführt um sie vor dem endgültigen Verfall zu retten und somit der Nachwelt zu erhalten.
 Hidden deep in the woods of Rannaschlucht, built on a steep cliff, is the imposing castle ruins. Directly from the Danube, a signposted and marked about 2 km long forest path, steadily rising to the ruins.
Already in 1140 this castle is mentioned. In the Middle Ages, it was the most important aristocratic residence of the upper Mühlviertel. From here, in the 13th century, the clearing and settlement of the area to the Šumava was promoted.
The remains of the wall today still give an idea of how tall and powerful the castle was centuries ago. Currently, extensive refurbishment and repair work is being carried out on the plant in order to save it from its final demise and thus to preserve it for posterity.
