★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a ruined castle in a scenic area of Burgenland. There is little information we could find before we went and nearly gave it a miss, but were glad we didn't. The ruins are open daily in the summer, and for a small charge you have the run of the place. You find that in this area of Austria there are a number of viewing towers, usually recently erected to take in a panoramic view, here the main tower of the castle has had a modern staircase added to take you to a magnificent viewing platform at the castles highest point. On a clear day its well worth the climb.
The ruins are very photogenic and although there is no English guide book there are information boards in the castle in German, Hungarian and English. There was some light refreshments available from the ticket office and nicely kept toilets in the castle itself.
Its a little sad that this magnificent ruined castle is not promoted more as a tourist attraction,
Its a delightful place to spend a hour or two exploring and taking in the views of central Burgenland.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What an interesting place. I was there in October and with the color of the trees absolutely beautiful. Make sure and climb the tower ca 250 steps and don't forget to visit that small graveyard on the right side of the road when driving to the ruins.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came when castle was already closed but we walked this around with my son and we were really impressed. The walls are in pretty decent condition and allow to value it how the castle was big. It was nice to walk as well due to lovely forest surrounding castle.
