Jahrhundert erbaut wurde sind heute lediglich eine mächtige langestreckte Mauer vorhanden. Der Burgplatz ist von einem Graben umgeben, der stark verwachsen ist, in seinen Grundzügen jedoch noch erkennbar. Die Wehranlage hatte während ihrer Bestandszeit eine wechselvolle Geschichte und eine Anzahl unterschiedlichster Besitzer. In der zweiten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts entschieden sich die damaligen Besitzer den nicht mehr zeitgemäßen und verkehrstechnisch schwer erreichbaren Bau zu verlassen und errichteten 1750 am Fuße des Koglberges das neue Schloss Kogl und die nunmehr unbewohnte Burg Kogl wurde dem Verfall überlassen. The ruins on the 680 m high Koglberg can be reached in a short hike. From the former hilltop castle, which was built in the 13th century, all that is left today is a mighty, long wall. The Burgplatz is surrounded by a ditch that has overgrown, but its basic features are still recognizable. During its existence, the fortification had an eventful history and a number of different owners. In the second half of the 18th century, the then owners decided to leave the building, which was no longer up-to-date and difficult to access in terms of transport, and built the new Kogl Castle in 1750 at the foot of the Koglberg, and the now uninhabited Kogl Castle was left to decay.
