Die Burg wurde um 1240/50 errichtet und hatte vorwiegend militärische Bedeutung. Der Burg war jedoch kein langer Bestand beschieden, anlässlich eines Adelsaufstand um 1290 gelang es feindlichen Truppen und mit List, die Burg einzunehmen und wurde Kammerstein anschließend zerstört. Die Burg hatte eine Länge von 42 m und eine Breite von 25 m und war damit eine der größten Wienerwaldburgen des 13. Jahrhunderts. Von der einst wehrhaften Burg sind heute lediglich der Stumpf des einst viergeschossigen Bergfrieds sowie ein Teil der mächtigen Ringmauer erhalten. Eine Besichtigung der Ruine, steil bergan durch den Wald , ist empfehlenswert und lohnt sich. On a ridge, south of the Liesing droughts in the forest are the remains of the Höhenstein Kammerstein. The castle was built around 1240/50 and was primarily of military importance. However, the castle was not given a long existence, on the occasion of an aristocratic uprising around 1290 enemy troops and cunning succeeded in taking the castle and Kammerstein was subsequently destroyed. The castle was 42 m long and 25 m wide, making it one of the largest Viennese forest castles of the 13th century. From the once defensive castle, only the stump of the once four-story keep and part of the mighty ring wall are preserved. A visit to the ruin, steeply uphill through the forest, is recommended and worthwhile.
M	Michael Buchsbaum on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eine gemütliche Wanderung vom Parkplatz weiter unten. Mit Kindern waren wir ca. 1stunde unterwegs. Die Ruine selbst gibt leider nicht mehr allzu viel her... Da hat der Zahn der Zeit ordentlich genagt. Es gibt auf der Strecke dann aber auch etliche Hütten und Co. Zu erkunden. Alles in allem ein schönes Ziel, wenn man's eher gemütlich angehen möchte. A leisurely hike from the parking lot below. With children we were out for about an hour. Unfortunately, the ruin itself doesn't reveal too much anymore ... The ravages of time have really gnawed. But there are also a number of huts and co. To explore on the route. All in all, a nice destination if you want to take it easy.
