H	Helmuth Mayrhofer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die Burgruine Hauenstein, auch Hanstein und im Volksmund auch Pflegerschloß genannt, ist die Ruine einer Höhenburg auf einem Ausläufer der Gleinalpe. Die Geschichte der Burg reicht bis zum Ende des 12. Jahrhunderts bzw. Anfangs des 13. Jahrhunderts zurück und wurde diese zum Schutz des Handelsweges vom Kainachtal über die Gleinalpe ins obere Murtal errichtet. Ein Brand am Ende des 16. oder zu Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts führte schließlich zur Aufgabe der Burg. Anfang des 20 Jahrhunderts wurden Sicherungs- und Sanierungsarbeiten durchgeführt und unter anderem alle vier teilweise eingestürzten Außenmauern des Turmhauses sowie die Mittelmauer im Turminneren wiederhergestellt, auch mehrere Ausbrüche in der Ring- und Stützmauer wurden wieder verschlossen. Auch der Aborterker an der Westseite des Turmes wurde wiederhergestellt. Und so bietet die Ruine dem Besucher heute einen interessanten Ein- und Überblickblick dieser ehemaligen Burganlage. The Hauenstein castle ruins, also called Hanstein and popularly known as the caretaker's castle, are the ruins of a hilltop castle on a foothill of the Gleinalpe. The history of the castle dates back to the end of the 12th century or early 13th century and was built to protect the trade route from the Kainach valley via the Gleinalpe to the upper Mur valley. A fire at the end of the 16th or beginning of the 17th century finally led to the abandonment of the castle. At the beginning of the 20th century, security and renovation work was carried out and, among other things, all four partially collapsed outer walls of the tower house and the central wall inside the tower were restored, and several outbreaks in the ring and retaining walls were closed again. The abortion oriel on the west side of the tower was also restored. And so the ruin offers visitors an interesting insight and overview of this former castle complex.

P	Peter F. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Superschöner idyllischer und ruhiger Ort. Der Aufstieg bei Schnee etwas beschwerlich. Gutes Schuhwerk sollte vorhanden sein. Super nice idyllic and quiet place. The ascent is a bit difficult when there is snow. Good shoes should be available.

Vom Parkplatz ca. eine halbe Stunde über einen Forstweg und dann einen recht schmalen Weg, wobei der letzte Abschnitt wirklich magisch ist. Dankenswerterweise hat jemand mit einem Stift die Ruine auf den Wegweisern ergänzt. Wonderful castle ruins with a beautiful view, which is unfortunately diminished by the cement works. From the parking lot about half an hour over a forest path and then a fairly narrow path, the last section being really magical. Thankfully, someone added a pen to the ruins on the signposts.
