Alt Leonroth wurde zu Beginn des 12. Jahrhunderts errichtet. Die Burg war eine Sperrfeste für die ehemals stark benützte Straße, die über den Wöllmiß- und Herzogberg auf die Pack und nach Kärnten führte. Als die Straße nach Kärnten verlegt wurde, baute man Anfang des 14. Jahrhunderts die Burg Neu Leonroth und Alt-Leonroth wurde aufgegeben und dem Verfall überlassen. Heute finden sich noch Reste der Ringmauer und Mauerreste der Burg welche jedoch lediglich als Fragmente erhalten geblieben sind. Für jeden Liebhaber alter historischer Mauern ein empfehlenswerter Besuch. Alt Leonroth was built at the beginning of the 12th century. The castle was a barrier for the formerly heavily used road that led over the Wöllmißberg and Herzogberg to the Pack and to Carinthia. When the road to Carinthia was relocated, Neu Leonroth Castle was built at the beginning of the 14th century and Alt-Leonroth was abandoned and left to decay. Remains of the ring wall and remains of the castle can still be found today, but have only survived as fragments. A recommendable visit for all lovers of old historical walls.
